Welcome to #SeaToSource, a project powered by Conservation Volunteers Australia aimed at empowering individuals and communities to take action on one of the world’s most solvable environmental issues – ocean litter.

Specifically, we’re focussed on reducing the amount of plastic litter entering our creeks, rivers and oceans and causing harm to the animals that call these places home. Read more about the impact ocean litter is having on marine life here

Turtle and plastic bag

Initially focussed on 8 waterways around the country, #SeaToSource will support existing projects and initiatives and launch new actions on the ocean litter issues that matter to you and your community. We know that beach clean-ups are one effective way to stop litter entering the ocean, but this program is about thinking from the sea right back to the source of litter, encouraging you to find ways to make beach clean-ups a thing of the past. We’ll be hosting design and innovation challenges and asking you and your community to find ways to stop litter at its source.

A key feature of the #SeaToSource project is The Campfire; an online space for us all to come together and share the #SeaToSource journey. On The Campfire you’ll find projects, resources, maps and activities, and we encourage you to start exploring. #SeaToSource is about Conservation Volunteers Australia working with communities on projects that matter to them, so you’ll also find a place to give feedback and make suggestions to help us improve the project and to understand how we can help you achieve your goals in reducing plastic litter. Additionally, we’ll be providing opportunities for you to join CVA led #SourceToSea activities, such as surveying for microplastics and community beach clean ups.
